A Note To All Those Responsible For Keeping Hotel Rooms Clean.
A couple of years ago we went as a family for a long weekend to EuroDisney. The stay was a huge success and we all had an absolute ball. There was one small fly in the ointment, however, and that was the hotel room. We weren't expecting great luxury because, after all, we hadn't paid for it but we had expected that our small family room would at least be clean and fresh.
The first thing that struck me as we walked in was the stale smell. It was very hot which probably didn't do much to help matters but all the same - wow, what a whiff!
And as for the carpet, well it just had a feel under foot of grime and stickiness. One thing I didin't want to do was walk around in bare feet.
Now doubtless, the management would point to high occupancy rates and the necessarily very fast turn around of rooms to explain why only the most cursory of cleaning was undertaken and why simple carpet maintenance was completely ignored. After all, they couldn't afford to have rooms out of use while the laborious task of cleaning the carpets was undertaken and then the loss of even more time while the carpets dried out.

What they didn't know was that with a bit of careful planning and the use of a well chosen carpet cleaning system and service, down time would have been cut to the absolute minimum or even overcome completely. The result for the hotel would have been fresh, odour-free rooms and at least one disgruntled family fewer.
Carpets smell because the particles that cause bad odours become trapped in the individual fibres. Normal everyday treatment such as vacuuming, while very important in helping to make the carpet last longer, doesn't remove these particles. Only regular cleaning, using methods that actually remove the odours rather than masking them, will be sufficient to ensure a clean, fresh and hygienic carpet.
As regular readers will know, we use the Texatherm system which cleans 60% faster than hot water extraction methods, dries in no more than 30 minutes and deep cleans and disinfects the carpets in one super-efficient go.
What more could a hotel want? Fresh, odourless rooms with no down time. Must be good for business.

All the best for today,
