Cleaning those nasty black margins

Hi Again,
Most houses have rooms, or at least small areas of carpet, where there are nasty black marks that run around the edges, or under doors or near heating grilles and vents. These eyesores are called draught marks and they are caused by the the finest airborne particles of dust being filtered by the carpet fibres and then trapped within them. Draught marks appear therefore when air is forced to flow through the carpet, so you can understand why they appear under doors and near vents and grilles. The reason why they are so obvious around the margins of rooms is that often there are gaps between the floor and skirting boards through which air freely flows.
So what to do about them?
Well, the good news is that they will come out with the right amount of care and attention and, of course, with the use of appropriate cleaning processes. However, this is only when the draught marks aren't too old. If they've been present for a long time, then there is a much greater chance that they are there for good. All that you can hope for is the the worst will fade and they become far less obvious.
Moral of the story......if you see unsightly black marks appearing around the edges of your rooms or in any of those other places I mentioned, act fast and have a professional get rid of them.

All the best for now.
The carpet commando.
